Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan is popularly known as the Blue City. The name is clearly befitting as most of the architecture – forts, palaces, temples, havelis and even houses are built in vivid shades of blue. The strapping forts that tower this magnificent city sum up to a spectacle you would not want to miss. The mammoth, imposing fortress of Mehrangarh has a landscape dominating a rocky ridge with the eight gates leading out of the fortress. The new city is located outside the structure. Jodhpur is also known for the rare breed of horses known as Marwari or Malani, which are only found here.

Jodhpur marks its origin back to the year of 1459 AD. The history of this prosperous city revolves around the Rathore clan. Rao Jodha, the chief of Rathore Clan is credited with the origin of Jodhpur in India. The city is known to be built in place of the ancient capital, Mandore of the state of Manwar. Hence, the people of Jodhpur and surrounding areas are commonly known as Marwaris. Also, it is believed that the relics of Mandore can still be witnessed in the Mandore Gardens.

Mehrangarh Fort
Mehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts in India that is enclosed by big and thick walls and consists of several palaces. All these palaces have intricate carvings and expansive courtyards. It also has seven gates, to name a few are Jayapol, Fatehpol and many more. It also has a very big museum that comprises of fire-arms, costumes, paintings and decorated periodic rooms. Umaid Bhawan Palace
Umaid Bhawan Palace is is situated in Jodhpur and regarded as the world’s largest private residences due to 347 rooms. It is basically divided in 3 parts- museum, residence of royal family and a heritage hotel. It was earlier called as “Chittar Palace” mainly because of the stones (Chittar) used in this monument. Jaswant Thada
Jaswant Thada is another beautifully designed architectural landmark and white marble memorial thatwas built by Maharaja Sardar Singh in the year 1899. Mandore
It is an ancient town, There is Mandore Garden, In Mandor Garden there are the cenotaphs of the rulers of Jodhpur, which makes Mandor Garden a popular local attraction, it is dedicated to the Rajput heroes, and these are all made of cenotaphs, stones, and bright colors. The unique architecture makes this place famous among tourists.

Kaylana Lake and Garden
It is an artificial lake, built by Pratap Singh in 1872. The lake is located on Jaisalmer road, 8 kilometers from Jodhpur city To build this lake, old palaces gardens were broken; this lake is spread over 85 square kilometers and is an important tourist spot. Many species of birds can be seen here. The main attraction of the lake is the view of the sunset here. At this time the glorious colors in the sky can be seen together as the canvas.

Balsamand Lake
This lake is a popular picnic spot, built in 1300 AD by Rajasthan Royal Family, The construction of the area was made to needs of the surrounding water. Now the place has become a tourist destination, with the length of more than 1 kilometer and the depth of about 15 meters for people with the nature enjoying the surroundings Has become a perfect place to roam.
